What is Haven Mentor?
Haven Mentor is a private space to think out loud — talk or type through what's on your mind with a supportive AI guide, by voice or text. It is deliberately not therapy, not a therapist, and not a crisis service.
Is Haven Mentor the same thing as “Haven”?
Yes — they are the same product. Haven Mentor is the full name of the product and the business. Haven is the shorter name used inside the app, because that is how it reads when you are actually using it.
The full name exists for a practical reason: “Haven” on its own is a common product name, shared with several unrelated apps. “Haven Mentor” matches the website — havenmentor.com — and points at exactly one thing. If you have seen either name, you have seen this.
What does Haven Mentor actually do?
You open it and start talking — by typing, or out loud in voice mode — about whatever is on your mind. A guide responds: not with advice or a diagnosis, but by reflecting back what it heard and asking the next honest question. The aim is to help you put your own reasoning into words, reach the thing underneath, and then get on with your day.
You pick a guide style — a temperament for how you want to be met. The ones on offer today:
- Healing Coach (the recommended starting point) — for working through what still hurts.
- Boundary & Word Coach — for hard conversations, conflict, and boundaries.
- Life Design Coach — for life-changing exercises you actually follow through on.
Conversations happen by voice or text, and your history stays with your account so you can pick a thread back up. How it works walks through it in more detail.
Is Haven Mentor therapy?
No. Haven Mentor is not therapy, not a therapist, and not a crisis service. It does not treat, diagnose, or claim to improve any condition, and it will not pretend otherwise to keep you talking.
That is a deliberate design position, not a legal disclaimer bolted on at the end. Every message is screened before any guide replies; if it looks like someone may be in crisis, everything else stops and the response points to real help — the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, and 911 in immediate danger. (The same three digits reach Canada's 9-8-8 line.) That response is never delayed, never replaced, and never put behind a paywall or a signup prompt.
We wrote the rest of this out in the open: what Haven won't do, how it differs from therapy, and how it sits alongside real care rather than replacing it.
Who is Haven Mentor for?
Adults — it is built for 18+ — who want to think out loud without performing. That covers a lot of ordinary ground: a decision you keep circling, a conversation you are dreading, a night your thoughts will not settle, or a day you need to unload without putting it on a friend. Ages 13–17 need a parent or guardian's permission first, and Haven does not accept accounts under 13 at all; is Haven for kids? spells out exactly how that works.
It is also used clinically-adjacent, but never clinically: licensed therapists can assign reflective homework that clients complete in Haven between sessions, and see only what a client explicitly chooses to share. The therapist is the clinician; Haven stays software.

How is Haven Mentor different from ChatGPT?
Haven Mentor is a reflection space, not a general assistant. The practical differences: guide styles built for working through feelings rather than completing tasks, a safety layer that screens every message before a reply, voice conversation designed for talking rather than dictating, and no streaks, feeds, or engagement mechanics — nothing in it is trying to make you stay longer.
It is also a paid subscription on purpose, so the business model does not depend on your data. The honest side-by-side comparison goes through where ChatGPT is genuinely the better choice.
How private is Haven Mentor?
Your reflections are tied to your account so your history follows you across your signed-in devices; they are not public and not visible to other people using Haven. There are no ads and no ad trackers, nothing is sold, and conversations are not used to train AI models.
Where your words actually go and the plain-language health-data notice spell out the specifics, including the parts that are less flattering.
